Plaza considers Alexanko as sports director

Speaking at a press conference, Barcelona presidential candidate Alexis Plaza has said that if current Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain wants to leave the club this summer, his candidacy would offer Barcelona youth director Alexanko to replace him:

"If Txiki wants to continue, we support that option since he has done a good job. He made some mistakes but he also made a lot of good signings like those of Keita, Alves or Touré. If he doesn't want to stay next season, we think that Alexanko could replace him."

José Ramón Alexanko (53) played for Barcelona between 1980 and 1993. As a player of Barcelona, the Basque central defender won - among other trophies - four Spanish league titles, four Spanish cups, one Champions League and two European cup winners' cups. Alexanko was in 2005 appointed as the director of the club's youth academy.
